Inspired by an article about an dark Angel brew, I'd like to write about a 'people's festival brew' of a Crailsheim, Franconia, Federal State of Baden-Wuerttemberg, privately owned brewery named "Engel Braeu G. Fach" (translated: Angel's Brew).
Because of the protected trademarks of the six major Munich breweries for Oktoberfest beers, I assume that this brewery labeled it 'Volksfestbier', meaning a festival brew for the local people - astonishing, huh? This beer is currently being offered at 'Oktoberfest'-like beer special sales at several superstores of EDEKA's.
This yellowish-golden brew has an excellent taste; hoppy but not penetrating in its taste, a bit stronger than regular lagers with its currently brewed 5.5 % alcohol v/v. It's a special brew for extraordinary events like 'Oktoberfests'.
And, the beer can really compete with the Budweiser Budvar in terms of freshness and flavor.
I paid 95 euro cents ($1.30) for a half litre bottle (17 fl. oz) plus €0.08 deposit.
In contrast to other German beer bottles with their genuine 'plop sounds', this one has a twist off cap - handy, you don't need a bottle-opener.
On the upper label, the brewery wants you to say: "Cheers, my angel."
Your 'angel gal' who is admired by you will certainly enjoy this beer, too.
