The tobacco tax is due to increase by between four and eight cents a year until 2015.
Guys that is so cheap, its 8.90 euro for a pack in Ireland now.
OK, fellas in the UK and Ireland, I don't have any problems with these prices, the trend in Germany goes the same direction.
Smuggling of cheap cigarettes is of course the reverse side of the coin. Having virtually no border controls within the EU, cigarettes from Poland and Czech Republic gain 'bigger market share'.
See here: http://www.cigaretteprices.net/
And even with Polish and Czech cigarettes with respective tax lables, consumers reach out for even cheaper 'duty free' cigarettes, btw considered as illegal import on land transit, from Ukraine and Belarus.
Hell knows what kind of sh*+ this is, but cheap.
I'm not so sure I disagree with this. My parents recently moved back to Germany (where they were born) because they felt the US was going to hell in a handbasket (can't really disagree there, either). Maybe I am biased, as no one in my family smokes, Idk, but I just can't see where this is a bad thing.
???
In Washington State, we pay anywhere from $8.50-$10 bucks. Thy should consider themselves doing pretty well.
As more and more people give up smoking cigarets the governments keep raising the tax on those who do smoke to keep up the same level of revenue.
If marijuana were legal then that can also be taxed and even more revenue can be collected.
Legalization of pot has already been an issue, think of the Netherlands. But the try of restricting access to only Dutch citizens and residents has become an issue in terms of 'discrimination' of other EU nationals.
Well, taxing is one issue, licensing pot growers is another, then #3 trade with 'legal' import of pot from abroad to the US and Canadian market, an so on. A tricky matter, for sure.
There are billions of dollars to be made from legalizing pot. Besides the license fees and taxes, the growers and sellers will now also be paying income and payroll taxes. Besides pot for recreation, there are medical applications. Let's not forget about hemp. Hemp for rope, clothing and other uses. That can become a seperate indusrty. Why is it still illegal?
Once the USA makes it completely legal (like booze and cigarets) the rest of the world will follow. It can become a huge worldwide growth industry.
i have a table-top roller, buy bulk tobacco, with filtered tubes...saves a ton. a carton costs around 10-15 butts...ugh...bucks!!!
luv,
ron
