Well, the old Latin judicial tenet:"Coram iudice et in alto mare in manu dei soli sumus." (In court and on high sea, you are in God's hands alone), is very true, esp. for private ship owners whose vessels have been sailing in pirates-infested areas off the coast of Somalia heading toward the Red Sea and Suez Canal. The bosses of the ship cargo companies have been hoping for a satisfactory solution by the military for years, in vain. The international approach "Atalanta" is as successful as getting rid of flies with your bare hands.
So, the owners of large companies are taking this enforcement of their rights on High Sea in own hands, arming their merchant navy vessels with people savvy enough to take care of the pirates.
"Shoot first and ask later" is the new approach of theirs. What will the military navy ships do instead? In the Atalanta zone, they will board the speed boats and arrest the guys if possible, then they will shoot the pirates' boats to pieces. But, how to get rid of the pirates?
Well, nobody would really like to take them as prisoners. The Russians, well, really a laughing number, send them back to the Somali shoreline. The Dutch and Germans took "Somali pirates" to their respective courts, for them it's now first class living and, you bet, they wanna stay there after having served their terms - surely, claiming political asylum. LOL, if granted - but not impossible.
The ships' owners have been this pissed off about the "soft-egg" approach so that they have decided to take own responsibility and costs of protecting their vessels and assets they have as cargo.
Well, mercenaries will cost an awful lot of money but the pirates-terrorists should be aware that their lives are really at stake now, then in "Allah's hands" as well.
So, the terrorists should be well aware that the same approach "Coram iudice et in alto mare in manu dei soli sumus" will hit them.
Pirates on high seas jeopardize their lives by own will and actions.
If they were sent to "their" heaven it would matter much for the ship owners, and for us as well, "our" cargo is implicated too.
Well, we should be reminded of the "old wild wild west" days when they said "only a dead Indian is a good Indian".
A lot of business and ordinary people alike are very inclined to think about the same in terms of getting rid of this pirates' infestation.
